A visa facilitation agreement between Denmark and Russia has been signed and will come into force as of October 1st, 2009. The agreement covers short-stay visas for an intended stay of no more than 90 days per half year for Russian citizens (B-visas, C-visas and visas with limited territorial validity (VLTV).

Most of the agreement’s provisions – which are similar to the provisions in the visa facilitation agreement between the EU and Russia which entered into force on 1st of June, 2007 – have already been implemented by Denmark. With the final ratification now concluded, the remaining provisions will come into force, e.g.:

Extension of the group of persons being exempted from paying the visa fee, cf. Article 6 in the agreement
Extension of the possibility of issuing long-term visas with multiple entries under certain conditions being fulfilled
Visa exemption for holders of Russian diplomatic passports
Introduction of a processing time of maximum 10 days from the date of applying, which may be prolonged in specific cases
